basket weave

Okay I did go off in another direction this week. Time crunch forced me to look for something quick for another baby quilt. This fit the bill, made all the blocks this week and started  putting them together. I was inspired by Bonnie Hunter's basket weave strings but I decided to use all 1 1/2 inch strips, then I cut them in 6 1/2 inch lengths and just sewed five together, then squared to 5 1/2 inches.
No paper to tear off.

I am setting them together with a pale yellow print and adding a purple border. This will go to the sister of the one getting the rick rack or chevron nines, another Bonnie Hunter pattern. Both babies are due in September just three weeks apart. I work with their mother, the future grandmother of these expected little girls.

Working a long day today but hope to get back to these later this week.

Happy sewing all.
