DWM vacation

I am on vacation this week and of course have a months worth of work I need to get done. I got a jump start on this little baby quilt last Thursday night.

Worked more on it on Friday. did not realize just how long it would take to cut out and arrange all those little squares.

Finally got it completed as the pattern had it. but decided to add another border of neutrals on bottom and sides so turtle would float.

I still think I need some type of border to make it a little bigger. It is only 34 x 44 now. I am thinking about some friendship stars either all greens or maybe greens and blues, need input.

Another of my goals this week is to clean up my sewing room. Of course one week want be near enough time but maybe I can make a little dent here and there. Found these blocks and a bag of the four patch and half square triangle components that have probably been made 10 years. Going to try to finish this top only need to make nine more blocks to have 30 and then I will put it together. Don't you think it is time?

In between all this in house stuff I need to quilt four quilts for different folks and I have a few of my own I would like to get done. I quilted Donna Nix's mystery quilt last night and all those seams gave my machine a fit with the pattern I had chosen, so when I quilt my own mystery I will use something much easier, maybe just stipple it.

Johnny want's me to totally forget about Hobby Lobby this week and it is great not having to go in to work today which is freight day and my longest day, usually I work 10 hours on Monday some up to 12 hours. However it is hard to not worry what my department will look like when I get back. It was is pretty bad shape when I went in last Saturday and I had only been off one day. Thankfully Jenny Brown is working today and will work next Thursday, Friday and Saturday so maybe she can get it back together.

Wish me luck with all my projects and happy quilting everyone.

  1. Your turtle is darling, Teresa! Have you thought about looking for a print fabric for your border? Since it's a baby quilt, I'll bet you could find a cute novelty print fabric that went along with the turtle theme, and maybe fussy-cut the print so you would have turtles in the centers of some of your star blocks and lizards or frogs or whatever in the center of other stars. Little ones love to play I-Spy with their quilts. I love your "Lost and Found" blocks as well. You made those 10 years ago?! They look so current and "today" with the bright colors!

  2. Your turtle is wonderful! Depending on what you think it'll be used for (always in the crib or taken along in the stroller), it might be fine with just that neutral edge you have planned.
